Changes to the top ten include LSU jumping to #6 from #12 after upsetting #7 Auburn (who are now ranked #11), Stanford leap frogging Notre Dame after win over FCS UC Davis. Penn State also moved up to #9 from the #10 spot and Virginia Tech joined the top ten despite having their game against East Carolina cancelled.
With Stanford making the jump to #7, that showdown between the Irish and the Cardinal in South Bend on September 29th now carries even more weight.
Notre Dame plays now #10 Virginia Tech on October 6th. The Irish next take the field against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem on September 22nd.
