WAKE UP AND SMELL THE MORNING YOU BASTARDS! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will get the day started a wee bit earlier this week with the 2:30 start time against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
This has become a much more important game than what anyone had figured just a few weeks ago. The #8 Irish came out against a MAC opponent and flat out choked. It was frustrating for fans, and it was frustrating for the team. Julian Love said it best earlier this week:
“Let’s be honest, we overlooked Ball State and what they could do. They were a solid team, they put up a great fight. So, I was frustrated with our approach more than anything.”
Yep. That happened.
Alright, so perhaps the Irish got their shit together, and they are ready to resume the type of season that we all thought was coming after the win over Michigan.
Maybe.
It’s not as easy as just saying, “okay we go play for real now dah dah dah.” The leaders of this team had to make an effort all week long to smack the stupid out of themselves. It’s a tricky thing to be that self-aware. Guys like Jerry Tillery, Sam Mustipher, Te’von Coney, and yes... Brandon Wimbush needed to rise above the mess and bring the team back to life.
We’re going to find out if they did just that in a few hours.
The game thread is open below. I know many of us are on Twitter for most of the game, but I encourage you to vent and do other things that require more than 280 characters here.
