The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 14 point favorites as hosts to the Vanderbilt Commodores, a line that’s attracting an equal number of bets for both sides as bettors try to figure out how close this contest may ultimately be.

SportsInsights, which tracks bets against the spread at several sportsbooks, shows the number of bets placed on Vanderbilt and Notre Dame as the same. (This does not show the amount of money wagered on each team.)

The over/under on this game — or points oddsmakers think will be scored by both teams — is 51 12 points. That would suggest a 33-18 Irish victory.

The OddsShark computer disagrees, believing the final score will be closer to 24-14. That would mean the Irish would win, the Commodores would cover and the total would go under.

If you’re considering betting this game, here are two trends, courtesy of OddsShark:

  • Vanderbilt is 15-6 against the spread in its last 21 September road games and 5-16 straight up in its last 21 road contests overall.
  • The total has gone over in four of Vanderbilt’s last five games on the road, but the total has gone under in five of Notre Dame’s last six home games.

Here are the betting lines for all of Notre Dame’s 2018 opponents, with the caveat that you probably won’t be able to get action on the Virginia Tech game since it’s canceled.

CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

For the past two weeks, we’ve been using championship odds from the South Point Casino in Las Vegas. Those odds haven’t been published anywhere online, so we’ll use the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook instead.

Notre Dame’s odds of winning the 2019 National Championship are at 20-to-1 following their defeat of the Ball State Cardinals. They started at 40-to-1 in the first week of January.

Here are the odds of the Irish’s opponents winning it all:

HEISMAN ODDS

Brandon Wimbush’s three interception day have caused his odds of winning the Heisman Trophy to dip. Wimbush, who was a 30-to-1 favorite entering the game, is now a 50-to-1 favorite to win the award for college football’s best player. (Wimbush is a 40-to-1 bet at Bovada.)

Bryce Love is riding roller coaster odds. He was 9-to-2 two weeks, 12-to-1 last week and 10-to-1 now. Now comes word he’s sitting against UC Davis.
