Notre Dame Football Recruiting: A Huge Weekend In Store For The Michigan Game

43 recruits will be on hand for Notre Dame vs Michigan.

One of the biggest games of the year for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is just a few days away when the Michigan Wolverines come to town. SO much has been put into this game by the fans and the media because of the nature of the game (season-opener, quarterback issues, and the opponent). It’s not a bad thing — but all of this excitement and suspense has kept the recruiting issues an arms length away.

Again... it’s a good thing we really haven’t been talking about recruiting over the last month. Notre Dame has 17 commitments in hand for the 2019 recruiting class (as well as 3 in the 2020 class). While the class keeps dropping in the team ranking (currently #14) other teams have been adding to their classes and most have more room than the Irish. The general consensus is that the Irish have 3 or 4 spots available to fill the 2019 class.

Notre Dame is looking to start the process of locking down those final spots as another round of official visits arrives with the football season.

Besides the six official visitors, Notre Dame will be hosting twenty-four other recruits from the 2020 and 2021 classes on unofficial visits. The Irish are also playing host to thirteen of its current commits.

It’s going to be a really busy time.

Notre Dame would like to add another offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and wide receiver to this class. Maybe there’s room for a fourth player, but the numbers aren’t really be close to being accurate right now. Once the early signing period in December hits, Notre Dame should have a better grasp of what room they may or may not have left on the roster.
