The AP release its preseason Top 25 Poll yesterday, and today they released the AP Preseason All-American Teams. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had three players make the cut — all on the 2nd team.
- Julian Love CB
- Alex Bars OG
- Sam Mustipher OC
Please keep in mind that Preseason All-American teams are a lot like award watch lists... they mean very little, but it’s a nice thing to say a guy is on. So don’t be too put off about Notre Dame’s players being on the second team instead of the first team. There are a lot of great players across the country and Notre Dame certainly has some of those.
I actually love that Te’von Coney isn’t on the team. I want Coney playing with a boulder on his shoulder — not just a chip.
Other players on the team from 2018 Irish opponents:
- Bryce Love Stanford Cardinal RB (1)
- Nate Herbig Stanford Cardinal OG (1)
- Devin Bush Michigan Wolverines LB (1)
- Kaden Smith Stanford Cardinal TE (2)
- Rashan Gary Michigan DE (2)
- Cameron Smith USC Trojans LB (2)
- Jake Bailey Stanford Cardinal P (2)
