Notre Dame invited unnecessary controversy when it released a stringent set of rules on the first day of practice last year.

Some of those rules still remain in 2018, including the program forbidding tweeting, blogging or use of Periscope during practice. Reporters are also required to hold all updates until practice has concluded, although it’s unclear if last year’s “and/or Brian Kelly has met with the media” addendum still applies.
Beat reporters said the rules had some “give and take” in them last year, especially those edicts regarding the description of personnel grouping and depth chart observations. To my knowledge, no one was banned from a practice for anything they wrote on social media or in a subsequent article.
