Notre Dame Football Hosts the Kelly Cares Foundation and ‘Football 101’

A night of ND Football for a good cause? Sign this girl up!

[Photo: Kelly Cares Foundation] Thank you to the survivors, sponsors (Four Winds Casino), volunteers, & our supporters for attending NDDFB101! A great evening of friendship and sisterhood!

As far as I am concerned, you are more likely to find me hanging with the guys watching football on a fall Saturday than out shopping with the girls, and with the looks of the robust attendance of this year’s Kelly Cares Foundation “Football 101” event, I’m not a minority. On Tuesday, June 12, Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football hosted the Kelly Cares Foundation and their ninth Football 101 event in the house that Rockne built. The evening consisted of cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres, and a tour of the locker room, classrooms and facilities in Notre Dame Stadium, LaBar practice facility and the Guglielmino Athletic Complex, as well as a chance to learn the football basics from the entire Notre Dame Football team and coaching staff. All proceeds from this annual event benefit the Kelly Cares Foundation which supports the breast cancer initiative.

Not only did the women have a great time having a “girls’ night out” in Notre Dame Stadium, the players truly enjoyed the event as well. Brandon Wimbush talked about the event, “just the cause behind it, the history that it’s had, and the weight that it holds in our community. It’s a fun evening for us to get out on a summer night, be around the guys, and be around each other, so it helps both parties here.”

Paqui Kelly talked about what makes this event so special. “It’s a really unique setting in terms of everybody loves football. It’s a great opportunity to do some things you may not have had the opportunity to do in your days at school. It’s about being together and sharing.”

If your wife or girlfriend is a Notre Dame football fan, this is a must-attend event, and it makes a lovely gift ... just saying. I absolutely love fall football Saturdays, but I must say this is a fantastic event as it allows you to get up close and personal with the coaches and players.
