The Notre Dame women’s basketball team faced its long-time nemisis tonight in the Final Four, and against all odds... the Irish defeated the UConn Hiuskies 91-89 in overtime.
For all the ways that this game could be described, one phrase fits best; IT WAS ONE HELL OF A GAME. We saw massive runs in the first half - first by the Irish, and then the mighty Huskies. We saw a second half that included one haymaker after another as if this was a prize fight instead of a basketball game. We saw UConn rise to the challenge to tie the game in regulation after being down 4 with 14 seconds left in the game. And of course, we saw Arike Ogunbowale sink the Titanic game-winning shot in overtime.

We will have more on this in the morning (OFD women’s hoops writer Matty Greene is in full-blown celebration mode) but this isn’t the end.
Notre Dame has one game left, and they will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday for the title. #NotDoneYet
