Yep... the Notre Dame Fighting Irish aren’t going to the Big Dance. The NCAA Tournament selection committee left the Irish out, so now Notre Dame is forced to play in the NIT to keep its season alive.
Notre Dame is a #1 seed and will face the Hampton Pirates. Hampton comes out of the MEAC and had a 19-15 record this year. They were bounced in their conference tournament by the North Carolina Central Eagles.
Notre Dame will play the “Left” side of the bracket. Here is the rest of that side:

The NIT will have some experimental rules in the tournament. They are:
- 4 10-minute quarters
- Lane will be widened to 16 feet.
- 3 Point line will be extended by 1’8”
- Shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after offensive rebounds
