Happy National Signing Day everyone! Tomorrow is a national holiday for all college football fans, and the sheer size of it all should tell you that this is a day that can make or break a program for years to come.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are about to sign the biggest class of the Brian Kelly era. Going into National Signing Day, the Irish signed 21 players during the early signing period in December, and could possibly sign 7 more on Wednesday.
The last time Notre Dame signed 28 players was in 2006 with Charlie Weis. Charlie took a lot of reaches in that class in a desperate attempt to get up to the 85 man scholarship limit after years of undersigning by Tyrone Willingham. The difference with this class is that this is an attempt to strengthen the roster as opposed to just filling one up.
We’ll discuss just how in the hell Notre Dame plans on making room for this possibly gigantic class later, but before we do... we have to sign the guys first.
The Signing Day announcement schedule for Notre Dame targets is out and about and it looks like this (all times are EST):
- 3 Star DE Derrick Eason (9:00 AM)
- 5 Star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere (10:00 AM)
- 4 Star OT Jarrett Patterson (10:00 AM)
- 4 Star CB Noah Boykin (11:30 AM)
- 4 Star LB Solomon Tuliaupupu (12:00 PM)
- 3 Star CB D.J. Brown (2:30 PM)
- 3 Star RB C’Bo Flemister (5:45 PM)
- 4 Star WR Lawrence Keys III (sometime between 11:00 AM & 12:00 PM)
