Notre Dame Beats Up Pittsburgh On Senior Day, 73-56

The return of Bonzie! The story of the first half was Bonzie Colson making his triumphant return on senior night. He scored 8 points and snatched a few offensive rebounds withing the first 4 minutes of the game. He looked like he did not miss any time at all. It was a great sight to see for Irish fans. Notre Dame eventually split up the offensive workload and went into halftime with a lead of 16.

The other story was how awful Pittsburgh played. How does an ACC basketball team get this bad? It truly is mind-blowing how it has happened. Notre Dame looked like they did not even break a sweat in the first half and totally dominated the game in every facet.

It was more of the same in the second half of this game. Notre Dame was making easy passes that were leading to open shots. It was as if Notre Dame was getting any shot they wanted. On the other end, Pittsburgh looked lost in their half court offense. I watched the entire second half wondering how Pitt got to be an embarrassment to ACC basketball.

The most exciting part of the game was when Mike Brey subbed out the seniors and they came off the floor for the last time in the regular season. Matt Farrell and Bonzie Colson have been such great players in this Notre Dame basketball program. The road Martinas Geben has traveled was not as planned but he had himself a fantastic senior year. It was a perfect sendoff for these seniors.
