The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were 30 point favorites against the Coppin State Eagles — a winless Coppin State Eagles. You would have thought that it would have been a nice and easy game for the Irish, and one more tune-up before ACC play.
You were wrong. We were wrong — we were all DEAD wrong.
Notre Dame went into the half only up two, and then saw that slim lead disappear quickly as Coppin State kept hitting shots and playing sound defense. The Irish didn’t give up and they fought back late in the second half to finally take the lead that they wouldn’t relinquish again.
That’s really all I want to say about all of that. Get ready for ACC play y’all!
T.J. Gibbs had 15 points, John Mooney had 14 points and 8 rebounds, and freshman Dane Goodwin had 13 points to help the Irish get to 10-3 on the season. Juwan Durham had 6 points, but more importantly... he had 6 blocks.
