Early Signing Period: 4 Star Safety Litchfield Ajavon Signs With Notre Dame

He is of college age.

Litchfield Ajavon

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got a lot better at safety this season, and in doing so — their defense was extraordinarily better. The Irish went out on the recruiting trail to cast a wide net, and found another springtime commitment in 4 Star safety, Litchfield Ajavon.

It’s official now, as Ajavon has sent in his NLI to Notre Dame this morning during the early signing period for college football.

There’s a lot to like with Ajavon. He’s a hard-hitting safety with enough athleticism and speed to become a complete player in time. He does need to work on his coverage skills, but that is something teachable whereas the joy of hitting is something that has to come naturally. He has a muscular 6’1” 190 pound frame (and he looks like a 30 year old investment banker) that can still be molded into a grade A weapon.

Like a lot of the spring commits, Ajavon’s recruitment was never really “heated” because of the timing of the cycle. Still... he had all the big boys after him like; the Clemson Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and others.

It’s nice to see Notre Dame be able to dip down into Virginia for some talent.

From Ajavon’s commitment:

Litchfield plays very physical and does a good job in space as he tackles. He will have to continue to develop as a pass defender, but has all the ability to do so. 247 recently dropped him to a 3 Star (still 4 Star on Composite) but with an entire senior season ahead of him, there is time to change those minds once again.
