Notre Dame Football: Ian Book Out For Florida State

The Notre Dame twist in November.

NCAA Football: Stanford at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

According to pretty much everywhere, Ian Book suffered an injury against the Northwestern Wildcats, and will be out when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday Night in South Bend.

Book got hit pretty hard in the side during the first quarter of Notre Dame’s win over the Wildcats — a hit that saw him in real pain for the minutes following the incident.

Notre Dame has yet to officially announce anything, but it is likely that Brandon Wimbush will return to the starting quarterback position against the Noles. Wimbush started the first three games and the Irish won all three games despite only completing 55% of his passes with 1 TD and 4 INT’s.

There is concern that Book could be out longer than just this week, as Notre Dame needs to win out to make the college football playoffs. After the Florida State game, Notre Dame still must go on the road for two games against the Syracuse Orange and the USC Trojans.

More news will come, I’m sure, later today — so I won’t speculate further. This is a developing story, and we will have more when we know more.
