Thought
Well. We made it. The goal of this short article is in no way, shape, or form to spark a debate about whether the Notre Dame Fighting Irish should or should not join a conference. The goal of this article is to highlight something truly special about NOT being in a conference this weekend.
We have gone 12-0, and there is nothing that can change our perfect regular season. There is something incredible about the fact that Notre Dame fans can sit back for a stress-free weekend of extremely meaningful college football. Fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners, and others — can’t say the same. If we were in the ACC we would most likely be matching up again Clemson…..and honestly I would rather wait until the playoffs for this to happen. At the end of the day, this is a delightful opportunity for Notre Dame fans. We can watch potential chaos unfold, fiery debates start, and simply sit in the background sipping our tea and enjoy it. A sick part of me hopes chaos truly unfolds, only to be able to not worry about the end result.
The Irish are 12-0 and nothing can impact this. I, for one, will be putting away my Tums on Saturday and enjoying a lovely afternoon. As always, Go Irish.
PS here is Alohi Gilman hyping up the team at halftime. He is fun. Winning is fun.
