This Saturday, the #3 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be looking to finish the regular season undefeated with a win against the USC Trojans in California. During Kelly’s Tuesday press conference, he answered a large amount of travel questions.
It should probably be expected by now. One of the bigger narratives coming into the season was Notre Dame’s travel schedule — especially in November when the Irish have struggled quite a bit in recent years. With one last test to go (and one more cross country trip) Notre Dame can completely shut down any of those previous theories (if they haven’t already).
The overall plan has been in place all season, and obviously the Irish aren’t taking this lightly.
“Playing there is never easy, so we have to go across the country and play a team that obviously has a lot of potential.”
- Brian Kelly
Head coach BK is 2-2 in the Coliseum against the Trojans. It started off well enough in 2010, and of course the Irish turned another 11-0 season into 12-0 in 2012 while playing Southern Cal. Since then, however, L.A. has been a house of horrors.
The Irish suffered embarrassing losses in 2014 and 2016 at the hands of USC. They followed the losses up with big wins of their own in South Bend — but now the entire season depends upon the results of this game on enemy turf.
