The 11-0 Notre Dame Fighting Irish head to L.A. to battle its fiercest rival... the 5-6 USC Trojans. It’s the nation’s oldest intersectional rivalry, and national championships have hung in the balance of these games.
This year is a little different — but not too much. It’s hard to remember when Notre Dame and USC were both playing for a title in the same year, but it has certainly lacked that quality for about 25 years (with a lone year like 2005 being an exception).
But I guess it doesn’t matter. What matters is that the Irish need a win in the Coliseum to gain entrance into the college football playoff. The fact that they can do this on the home field of their biggest rival is just as sweet as if they were ranked right next to the Irish.
All that matters is victory.
You can follow along all week in this stream, as we prepare to take the Jeweled Shillelagh into battle and defens its honor (or some crazy crap like that).
In case you forgot what week it was...
