The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are just a couple of meals away from playing the Virginia Tech Hokies in electric Lane Stadium. The continuing theme all week has been what kind of atmosphere this game will be played under with the way a Hokie crowd basically creates an earthquake before a game with the Enter Sandman entrance.
Please excuse me as I yawn once more. Look, it’s an incredible tradition, and the sound volume and optics are amazing — but the game still is played on field the is 100 yards between the endzones, and has four 15 minute quarters.
It doesn’t have to be close.
Notre Dame is the better team, and if they continue to play the way they have over the past couple of weeks, they should be able to lean on Virginia Tech for most of the night until the Hokies collapse under better talent and a better team.
The Irish have already passed two HUGE tests, while Virginia Tech has already failed an open-book quiz. Does any of that matter once toe meets leather? Well... we’ll find out soon enough.
Editor’s note: I have Notre Dame’s ranking listed from the AP Poll and VT’s ranking from the coaches poll. It’s a mistake that I just continued all week — and no one said anything. So... pay attention lol.
The game thread is open below. I know many of us are on Twitter for most of the game, but I encourage you to vent and do other things that require more than 280 characters here.
