Wind will not be a factor during the game, as breezes won’t eclipse five miles per hour. But there is about a 16 percent chance of rain, according to the forecast.
Temperatures won’t vary that much during the game, dropping just two or three degrees from kickoff to final whistle.
This will be a hotter-than-normal day for Oct. 6 in Blacksburg, as the forecasted high — 77 degrees — will be about eight degrees warmer than normal. The low — 64 degrees — will be about 22 degrees higher. Last Oct. 6, the high was 84 degrees and the low was 46 degrees on Virginia Tech’s campus.
The Irish last played a road game on Oct. 6 in 2012, when it dismantled the Miami-Florida Hurricanes, 41-3, at Soldier Field in Chicago. That game kicked off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and was 44 degrees at kickoff.
