Notre Dame Football: Spread for the Northwestern Game Plus Irish Championship Odds

The undefeated Irish are 9 1⁄2 point favorites against their Big 10 opponents.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 9 12 point favorites over the Northwestern Wildcats in their first visit to Evanston since 1976, according to oddsmakers.

The over/under — or points scored by both teams combined — is set at 53 points. That suggests a 31-22 Irish win. That’s pretty much where the OddsShark computer has it, as it’s predicting a 33-24 victory.

The Irish were 17 point favorites against the Wildcats in 2014, when the underdog pulled off a 43-40 overtime victory in South Bend.

If you’re considering betting this game, here are some trends from OddsShark:

  • The total has gone over in four of Notre Dame’s last five games and four of its last five games on the road. However, the total has gone under in 16 of Northwestern’s last 22 home games.
  • Northwestern is 11-5 against the spread in its last 16 games, but 2-4 against the spread in its last six home games.

Here are the betting lines for all of Notre Dame’s 2018 opponents and where you can watch each game this week:

CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

Notre Dame’s odds to win the College Football Playoff — at least in the eyes of bettors — improved following its 44-22 win over the Navy Midshipmen.

The Irish are now 6-to-1 favorites to win the entire thing at Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, trailing only the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers. That’s an implied probability of 14.3 percent.

The Irish started the season at 40-to-1, improved to 20-to-1 following their Week 1 over the Michigan Wolverines. It’s been a steady climb up the favorites since.

The Wolverines started at 10-1, dipped as low as 30-to-1 in Weeks 4 and 5, but are now at 12-to-1.
