We’ve known for about a year now that the 2019 NHL Winter Classic, the annual outdoor hockey game on New Year’s Day, will be played between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins at Notre Dame Stadium. After an announcement made today, we now know that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team will follow the Winter Classic with an outdoor game of their own, when they take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday January 5, 2019 at 3:30pm in Notre Dame Stadium.
We're taking this outside.

For the Irish, this will be their third outdoor game since the program gained varsity status in 1968, having previously played in Chicago at Soldier Field and Boston at Fenway Park. They are 1-1 in their previous two outdoor games. In other news, my winter visit to South Bend just got extended from January 2 to January 6.
Tickets for the game go on sale November 5, the full story can be found here.
