The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 6 12 point favorites Saturday against the Virginia Tech Hokies in their first visit to Blacksburg’s Lane Stadium, according to oddsmakers.

The over/under — or “the predicted number of points oddsmakers believe will be scored in the game by both teams combined” — is 56 points. That suggests a 31-25 Irish win.

The OddsShark computer predicts a tighter outcome, 29.6 to 28.6. That means bettors holding slips for Notre Dame on the moneyline, Virginia Tech against the spread and the over would be winners.

As of 8:40 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, 77 percent of the bets were on Notre Dame to cover the spread, according to SportsInsights. Virginia Tech had garnered 51 percent of the bets on the moneyline, the site said. (The site does not report what percentage of the total money bet is on the Irish or the Hokies without a subscription.)

If you are considering betting this game, here are some trends that may or may not prove useful. All are courtesy of OddsShark:
