The Notre Dame Fighting Irish released their depth chart for their upcoming game against the Virginia Tech Hokies, and there was one side of the ball with a LOT of movement.

The season ending injury suffered by Alex Bars not only takes away a great player along the offensive line, it also has caused quite the stir on the depth chart. Trevor Ruhland will now be the starting left guard after doing pretty well at RG in place of Tommy Kraemer. The backups along the line have shifted all over wnd walk-on Colin Grunhard is now listed as the back-up center. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aaron Banks or Josh Lugg see a fair amount of time on the field as well.

There is no more “OR” in between Ian Book and Brandon Wimbush as Book is now the starter fully full on. No Jafar Armstrong will mean that the running backs will have one more freshman in the mix.

Both Javon McKinley and Lawrence Keys III have been removed from the depth chart this week. Both Keys and McKinley were listed as 3rd stringers previously.

No changes have been made on the the defensive depth chart.I’m still always curious as to how they use the NICKEL and we saw quite a bit of Houston Griffith last week, as well as the package that moves Julian Love to the NICKEL with Donte Vaughn at cornerback.
