Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Irish Get Commitment From 3 Star Kicker, Harrison Leonard

Glad to see #LacrosseBro still lives.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish added a very important piece to its 2019 recruiting class today when 3 Star Kicker, Harrison Leonard gave his verbal pledge to play football in South Bend.

Leonard is the #7 ranked kicker for 2019 according to Kohl’s Kicking. They had this evaluation of him:

Leonard recently attended the Kohl’s Kicking National Invitational Scholarship Camp in July of 2018. He showed great improvement on his field goals off the ground. Leonard is a top baseball prospect along with being a great kicker/punter. He showed great command on his kickoffs and was able to call on his “A” ball during the competition phase of camp. His leg strength has gotten better and his technique is quickly moving turning him into one of the best prospects in his class. Leonard is someone who has bought into becoming a specialist and it showed with his most recent performance charting 31 points off the ground at camp. He is a different prospect than a year ago, it is exciting to see that type of development.

Leonard is the 20th commitment for Notre Dame’s 2019 class. Although he will be listed on the commitment list, Leonard joins the Irish as a preferred walk-on which won’t affect the overall 85 man count.

This kid REALLY wants to go to Notre Dame, and with the WASPY #LacrosseBro name and the Connecticut heritage, it all seems like a great fit for all parties. Justin Yoon is gone after this year, and Jonathan Doerer will have 2 more years of eligibility. We already know that Notre Dame likes using two kickers (one to score and one to kickoff) so Leonard could see game action right away next year.
