What Though The Odds: Week 8 Betting Lines for Notre Dame’s Opponents Plus Championship and Heisman Odds

Will USC continue building its CFP resume? Who will own bragging rights in Michigan?

Two of Notre Dame’s opponents — one past, one future — will be playing each other at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.

The 3-3 Florida State Seminoles are a 10 point favorite at home over the 3-3 Wake Forest Demon Deacons, according to oddsmakers. The over/under — or combined number of points expected to be scored by both teams — is set at 60.

The OddsShark computer is expecting a much higher scoring affair, predicting a 39-24 Seminoles triumph. Bettors holding tickets for Florida State on the moneyline, against the spread or for the over would cash in that instance.

The Irish dispatched the Deacons in Week 4, 56-27. They’ll play the Seminoles on Nov. 10 at Notre Dame Stadium.

The week’s closest spread, among Irish opponents, belongs to the Stanford Cardinal. They are 2 12 point favorites as visitors against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

What game will you be watching this weekend? That noon matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans is probably most appealing to me. But, unlike my colleague, I won’t be rooting for Michigan.

CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s odds of winning the College Football Playoff remained at 8-to-1 at Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas, despite a harrowing 19-14 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Of the Irish’s 2018 opponents, only the USC Trojans saw their fortunes changed (at least in oddsmakers’ eyes). After beating the previously undefeated Colorado Buffaloes, the Trojans went from 1000-to-1 odds to 300-to-1 odds as it makes them the leader in the Pac-12 South.

The Trojans are 7 point underdogs to intraconference foe Utah. That game is at 8 p.m. Saturday on the Pac-12 Network.

HEISMAN ODDS

The winner of the 2018 Heisman Trophy isn’t going to play against Notre Dame — at least not before the hardware is handed out Dec. 8.

I continue to be perplexed by Westgate’s line on Jafar Armstrong being unchanged at 300-to-1, despite him not playing since Week 4. Armstrong’s nonexistent Heisman bid is scheduled to resume Oct. 27 against the Navy Midshipmen.
