The Notre Dame Fighting Irish staved off upset against the Pittsburgh Panthers, keeping their record unblemished with an 19-14 win. Here is are the some of the best tweets from the game, with the highs (Ian Book’s touchdown to Miles Boykin) and lows (Maurice Ffrench’s 99-yard touchdown return) and most everything in between.
Did you see a good tweet I missed? Leave it in the comments below.

my entire family either went to Pitt or ND so our Pitt-Notre Dame tailgate is basically Christmas. Everyone eats too much, there’s alway a fight and only half of the family actually gets what they want in the end

FIRST QUARTER
Wait wait wait what is Ian book doing on the field you mean to tell me that shmarstool rumor was totally off base and unfounded?!
— Lena Steigs (@PDXIrish) October 13, 2018
Nicco Fertitta jumps offsides on the punt block team. Pittsburgh gets a first down out of it. Meh.

Do you have any idea how bad of a player you have to be to jump offsides on a punt #NDPitt

Save the trap talk, Pitt executing by doing what they do best...pounding the ball.
— Darin Pritchett (@961Sportsbeat) October 13, 2018
And Pitt got help from a #NotreDame veteran player on special teams trying to be Bat Man rather than settling for being Robin.
— Lynne (@shoelvr23) October 13, 2018
Not worried about this.
— Fr. Sorin's Ramblers (@golddomersdulac) October 13, 2018
A LOT of football left to play, and Pitt absolutely does not leave this stadium a winner today.
— Molly (@LluckoftheIrish) October 13, 2018
Welp, at least I knew coming into this game there was a good chance of getting an ulcer.
— Optimistic Domer (@OptimisticDomer) October 13, 2018
I’m hearing some terrible news regarding Notre Dame.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
Ian Book was just intercepted.
What’s your go to yell when they do something stupid?

SECOND QUARTER
ND Twitter can’t destroy the #NDTD hashtag if we don’t score pic.twitter.com/tH0srQsyPl
— Lena Steigs (@PDXIrish) October 13, 2018
Notre Dame entering the danger zone. Ian Book looks all over the place through three drives. Doesn’t have a handle on what Pitt is doing defensively. And Pitt’s defense this season has been among the nation’s worst.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
Heck of a run by Tony Jones on 3rd-and-1. Sam Mustipher got blown up into the hole and into the back but Jones kept going and made the first-down.
— Bryan Driskell (@BGI_CoachD) October 13, 2018
Notre Dame settles for a field goal (new holder Nolan Henry!) and trails 7-3. Sleepy performance to date, fitting for a roster that didn’t sleep much during the week with mid-terms.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
Since Pitt’s opening drive, it’s gone three-and-out three-straight times. Nine plays for seven yards, total.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
I understand nothing about what Notre Dame is doing offensively right now. The personnel. The plays. The execution.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
God dammit, Avery Davis. It's pass protection. Not ballet class. #NDFB
— One Foot Down (@OneFootDown) October 13, 2018

i want to kill all the Pitt fans sitting by me but they’re all my cousins ?????
— Jessica Smetana (@jessica_smetana) October 13, 2018
So much for the @PeteSampson_ theory that blitzing Book only works because of its rarity. Pitt is doing nothing else and it's working.

Correction on the “Brian Kelly at Notre Dame when trailing at halftime stat” as the Irish are actually 7-23 when trailing at the half.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
The vacation of wins tripped me up on the previous stat.
THIRD QUARTER

FOURTH QUARTER
Notre Dame’s dime defense had freshmen Houston Griffith and TaRiq Bracy on the same side of the field. And then Pittsburgh throws toward Julian Love. Third down stop.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018
Someday, ND will build a statue to missed Pitt FG’s.
— Moons (@GAMoons) October 13, 2018
On second thought, Notre Dame brings out the punt team following Pitt’s timeout. And then Tyler Newsome hits it into the end zone. Net yardage: 29.
— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) October 13, 2018

— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) October 13, 2018
Never liked the desperation fake. Line up your best play on 4th down.
— Erik (@gothlaw) October 13, 2018
Cannot believe that decision. ND has 1.2 cornerbacks today and you run a telegraphic fake punt on 4th and 4?
