Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 4 Star Cornerback, Isaiah Rutherford, Commits To The Irish

The Irish add another top talent to their secondary.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish added another piece to the 2019 recruiting puzzle today when 4 Star Cornerback, Isaiah Rutherford gave his commitment to play college football in South Bend.

The 6’0” 175 defensive back from California chose the Irish over a long list of schools such as the USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers and more. The California Bears and Colorado Buffaloes were also high on his list.

Rutherford is the 19th commitment in this 2019 class for Notre Dame and the only commit from the state of California. The class represents 15 different states now, with Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, and Virginia having two representatives a piece.

The addition of Rutherford to this class gives Notre Dame a blue-chip secondary. Kyle Hamilton (S), Litchfield Ajavon (S), K.J. Wallace (CB), and now Isaiah Rutherford (CB) are all 4 star prospects.

Add these commitments to the incredible haul last year, and the Irish are building some great depth and competition to the back end of its defense.

Notre Dame is still looking at a 21 or 22 man class, and are probably looking to add another defensive end and offensive lineman.
