It’s poking and prodding time for all of the college football talent that wants to get paychecks from an NFL team. One of the more traditional ways to get seen by NFL talent scouts, is to play in a post season All-Star game. While most of the attention for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be for Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey, there are atill more than a handful of Domers that will get drafted.
Tight End Durham Smythe is one of those players that looks to improve his draft stock in the coming months. He will be the lone representative from Notre Dame at the Senior Bowl. Although he may be the only player from Notre Dame there, the tight end position has a plethora of bodies for both rosters:
- Jordan Akins UCF Knights
- Adam Brenemen UMass Minutemen
- Tyler Conklin Central Michigan Chippewas
- Troy Fumagalli Wisconsin Badgers
- Mike Gesicki Penn State Nittany Lions
- Dallas Goedert South Dakota State Jackrabbits
- Chris Herndon IV Miami-Florida Hurricanes
- Ian Thomas Indiana Hoosiers
If you’re counting, that’s two deep on a two tight end set. LOVE IT.
Unlike some all-star games, this is pretty well produced from top to bottom most years, so I highly recommend you give it a watch. There will be all sorts of players on these rosters besides the tight ends. There are some of the best and most famous from college football this season such as quarterback Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma Sooners) and some of the best from the lower divisions such as Dubuque defensive back Michael Joseph.
