The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have a bunch of new players to work with when spring football starts in a month and a half. Notre Dame welcomed seven early enrollees on Sunday:

  • Defensive Back, Houston Griffith
  • Tight End, George Takacs
  • Running Back, Jahmir Smith
  • Wide Receiver, Micah Jones
  • Linebacker, Matthew "Bo" Bauer
  • Linebacker, Ovie Oghoufu
  • Linebacker, Jack Lamb

All seven graduated early from high school, and chose to get a head start on their Notre Dame degree and their Notre Dame football career.

While many people are quick to start putting freshmen into the two deep, we have seen the clear advantage of enrolling early when it comes to playing time as a freshman. The three players that probably have the best shot at getting early playing time are Houston Griffith, George Takacs, and Jahmir Smith (although that is neither a guarantee for them or an end-all for the others.

There are 14 players left from the 2018 class that signed in December, and another set to sign in February, that will arrive on campus in June. The Irish look to possibly add about three or four more players on National Signing Day in February.
