Notre Dame Ranked 2nd in ACC Preseason Lacrosse Standings

Four Notre Dame Players Selected to Pre-Season All-ACC Team

The preseason ACC Conference rankings were recently released, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were once again among the top teams.

Notre Dame is ranked 2nd in the preseason conference standings, behind only the Duke Blue Devils. Syracuse, North Carolina and Virginia round out the rest of the top five.

In addition, four Notre Dame lacrosse players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team. The four selected are listed below:

  • Ryder Garnsey-The junior attacker from Wolfeboro, New Hampshire recorded 42 points (20 goals, 22 assists) in 14 games last season. Garnsey was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team before last season.
  • Drew Schantz-The junior midfielder from Allentown, Pennsylvania posted 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists) in 14 games last season.
  • John Sexton-The senior defensive midfielder from Sudbury, Massachusetts recorded 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 15 games last season. He also collected 46 ground balls and caused 23 turnovers during the 2017 campaign.
  • John Travisano, Jr.-The senior midfielder and faceoff specialist from Ellicott City, Maryland won 61 faceoffs and grabbed 21 ground balls in 15 games last season.

Notre Dame will begin their season on Sunday, February 11 at home against Detroit Mercy. The Irish lost to Denver 16-4 in last year’s NCAA Quarterfinals.
