The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a lot to prove as it gets ready to take on the LSU Tigers in today's Citrus Bowl game. Notre Dame hasn't won a game in Florida in pretty much forever (2002), and they haven't won a New Year's Day bowl game in forever times forever (1994).
All streaks must come to an end - so why not today? Why not kill two birds with one stone and beat the Tigers in Florida on New Year Day?
For all the back and forth Irish fans have done about Brian Kelly and the program over the past few months, a lot of those arguments can be decided right here and right now. While the future of the program may not exactly be at stake today, a huge chunk of perspective about the program from fans and critics certainly is up in the air in Orlando.
Both the Irish and the Tigers have had a decent amount of off the field distractions leading up to their game, but Notre Dame still holds a little edge there with so much happening in the last few weeks.
It has all the makings of a great game, but it also has all the makings of one of those classic Notre Dame flops in big games. Can the Irish rise to the occasion and prove that the team we thought this was in September and October isn't the team that we saw in November?
That will be what we are all waiting to see today. The game thread is open below. I know many of us are on Twitter for most of the game, but I encourage you to vent and do other things that require more than 280 characters here.
