Equanimeous St. Brown received an early 21st birthday present today when the junior wide receiver hauled in a 14-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Wimbush and found the end zone. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish now lead the Miami-Ohio Redhawks, 35-14, with 11 minutes remaining before halftime.

The entire drive was built around getting Wimbush back into a rhythm after a dreadful 1-for-7 start. Wimbush went 3-for-5 and would have had another if true freshman Michael Young did a better job keeping his eye on the out-of-bounds line. The mental miscue wiped out what would have been Young’s first career catch for the Irish.
On defense, cornerback Nick Watkins continues to have a shaky game. He’s been picked on both times Miami quarterback Gus Ragland has thrown a touchdown pass.
We’re also four points away from hitting the over in this game. It was 53 points when we checked it earlier this week.
