Cornerback Julian Love read quarterback Brian Lewerke’s eyes and jumped in front of his sideline pass. Fifty-nine yards later, Love was in the end zone and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a 14-0 lead over the Michigan State Spartans.

Lewerke exacted a bit of revenge on the following drive, busting through the middle for 51 yards on a quarterback sneak and then lofting the ball over Love’s outstretched arms to connect for a touchdown.

With 11:55 remaining in the second quarter, the Irish lead the Spartans, 14-7.
The Irish got on the board first after a seven-play, 78-yard drive culminated in a 16-yard quarterback touchdown. One week after struggling to connect with his receivers, junior Brandon Wimbush was 4-of-5 for 62 yards on the first drive.
Wimbush is now 6-of-10 for 74 yards.
