College Football: Week 4 Betting Lines For Notre Dame and All Irish Opponents

Plus a game I suggest tuning into if you hate defense.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are five-point road favorites in their Saturday night clash with a longtime rival, the Michigan State Spartans.

Lines opened with the Irish being a six point favorite, but the early money swung toward the Spartans and the oddsmakers have readjusted. The Spartans are 2-0 this year against the spread

The over/under opened at 54 points and has remained there. (If Notre Dame wins Saturday 31-25, for example, then they cover and any over bet would pay out.)

The Spartans, who were touchdown underdogs heading into last year’s game, prevailed 36-28. It was one of only two FBS wins Michigan State had last year.

The two teams have played 76 times previously, with Notre Dame holding a 46-29-1 edge. The Irish and the Spartans have each won 5 of the past 10 meetings dating back to 2005.

Here are the betting lines for the Irish’s 2017 opponents. The Temple Owls, Boston College Eagles, Miami-Ohio Redhawks, USC Trojans, N.C. State Wolfpack and Wake Forest Demon Deacons are all on the road this week. The Trojans and Deacons are road favorites, while the Georgia Bulldogs, Miami-Florida Hurricanes and Navy Midshipmen are all home favorites.

Oregon Ducks at Arizona State Sun Devils

10 p.m. Saturday on Pac-12 Network
Over/under: 74.5 points

Last week, we suggested you watch the Purdue Boilermakers and Missouri Tigers if you were looking for offensive fireworks. Purdue held up its end, but the Tigers did not.

I tuned into the ESPN Goal Line channel, where I saw plenty of the Toledo Rockets and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. That game didn’t lack for excitement as the Rockets prevailed in 54-51 in a “defense optional” MAC vs. AAC clash.

This week, oddsmakers are suggesting you watch the Oregon / Arizona State game if you want to see bonkers yardage and hyperactive scoreboards. If you don’t get the Pac-12 Network or don’t want to stay up that late, the Arkansas State Red Wolves are on the road this week against the SMU Mustangs. The 7 p.m. kick is on ESPN3/Watch ESPN and it features an over/under of 73 points.
