Weather for Notre Dame & Boston College’s Saturday Football Game in Chestnut Hill

The weather at Alumni Stadium for kickoff is forecasted to be hot.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boston College Eagles will kick off under cloudy skies on Saturday at Alumni Stadium, with the air temperature feeling like 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

The actual temperature is forecasted to be 77 degrees at 3:30 p.m., according to Accuweather. But throw in 71 percent humidity and 61 percent cloud cover, and that T-shirt/shorts combo you’re rocking may be a little stickier than you’d like.

This game got moved from a scheduled noon start to a 3:30 p.m. start, but that seems to have no bearing on the temperature at the start of the game. The noon temperature is expected to be 76 degrees (and feel like 88 degrees). That’s also the time the parking lots open for tailgating purposes.

As the game progresses, the temperature will become a lot more comfortable for the fans and players. The temperature at 7 p.m. — which should be around the time the game is ending — will be 71 degrees. The clouds will slowly dissipate from the sky during the clash, which is the teams’ 23rd all-time meeting. It’s the teams’ first meeting at Alumni Stadium since 2012. The Irish prevailed that day, 21-6.

Accuweather believes this day in Chestnut Hill, Mass. will be about 10 degrees hotter than the same day last year, but nowhere near a record. The high was set in 1939: 96 degrees. The low was set in 1984 — perhaps Doug Flutie remembers 42 degree temperatures in early September.
