If you follow me on Twitter, which a good number of you probably don’t, you know that for the last few weeks I’ve been posting photos of old and current ND players in our countdown to the first game. Today we are officially 24 days away from kickoff between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Temple Owls, and thus here is your 24

Mark Green - RB - 1985-88
Green was a solid three-year contributor for the Irish. During his four years in South Bend, Green rushed for 1,977 yards and 15 touchdowns. Perhaps his best season was his junior campaign in 1987. That year Green led the team in rushing with 861 yards and six touchdowns. He followed that year up with a solid one in 1988. In his senior year he helped lead a balanced Irish rushing attack as he was third on the team in rushing — running for 646 yards and seven touchdowns. In his final game with the Irish, the 1989 Fiesta Bowl, Green ran the ball 13 times for 62 yards en route to a 34-21 over the West Virginia Mountaineers and a National Title.
After capturing the National Title, Green was drafted in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Green spent four seasons in Chicago, starring on special teams, before calling it a career in 1992.
And just like that, we’re one day closer to the kickoff! It was pretty slim pickin’s for 24s. What 24s would have you liked to seen? Let us know in the comments below!
We here at OFD hope this countdown is getting you excited. Also make sure to check out the other great content on the site! Go Irish!
