IT’S THURSDAY, PEOPLE

Ahh Thursday. It’s the day closest to the weekend, and it’s one of the best days of the week. Also, Thursday is the day that I REALLY start to get amped for each game coming up on Saturdays. Today also means we’re only 2 days away from a new season, and our excitement levels hit the roof.

Today, I am launching my weekly “Throwback Thursday” (#TBT) or Series Recap post before each Notre Dame Fighting Irish game for the 2017 Season. I always like looking back at fond memories of games past. For each post, I will take a look at our all-time record against our upcoming opponent. Additionally, I want to show off some highlights of each series and some moments that we shouldn’t forget and some that we should, but can’t forget.

Notre Dame vs. Temple: The Series

Fortunately for us, we have only played the Temple Owls twice ever, and both games have come within the last 5 years. Notre Dame is 2-0 against Temple all-time, stemming from the two wins in 2013 at Notre Dame Stadium and 2015 at Lincoln Financial Field. The first game was relatively comfortable as the season opener after the 2012 amazing season. The second game was more of a nail biter, and it spooked us on Halloween night in 2015. Both Ws were very welcome, though.

Highlights

In 2013, the final score was 28-6. This 66 yard pass to Troy Niklas (remember him??) was a nice little addition to the game that day.

Now, 2015 was a different story. This could’ve been yet another time that Notre Dame gave a team a program defining win. However, we got rid of the Halloween boogey man to defeat a 7-0 and hungry Temple team. They were talented (it was a Top 25 matchup, and College GameDay was in Philly for it), but we were also just a little good that season. Final score 24-20. Come from behind victory that was more confusing and eventually a relief than satisfying.

I can’t decide between showing you all the Kizer run or the winning TD to Fuller, so you all get both!

Kizer Run

Fuller Winning TD

We’re batting 1.000 so far against Temple

Let’s keep it that way. Go Irish. Beat Owls.
