The Notre Dame Fighting Irish absolutely need better play from its safeties this year if it wants to make a big turnaround from the infamous 4-8 season of last year. Alohi Gilman, a transfer from Navy, could be a big part of that turnaround.
Notre Dame and Gilman are awaiting word from the NCAA on an appeal that they filed that would allow Gilman to be eligible to play right away, and not sit out a year as per normal.
This all has to do with a change in the rules at the Naval Academy about players and how and when they can enter the NFL Draft. We are all expecting word soon, and perhaps the ruling has already been given...
Perhaps he was denied the appeal and is preparing himself for the long year of waiting. Or, perhaps, he feels like he has already waited a long time and just got the good news.
I have no idea what this tweet means. For all we know, it could be that he finally beat Drue Tranquill in a game of Foosball. At any rate, we will all know soon enough, and hopefully the Irish will be able to use Gilman this year on the field.
