The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been blessed with great linemen for a very long time. This season, their very best is senior guard, Quenton Nelson.
Nelson has been receiving praise from all corners of the Notre Dame universe this offseason, but this "garage door with arms" (one of my favorite quotes of all time from South Bend Tribune writer Eric Hansen) is also racking up some accolades from all over the country. Most recently, he was named a preseason All-American by Sports Illustrated, and he was the only unanimous choice on the offensive line.

After deferring his NFL future for one final year in South Bend, Nelson was SI’s only unanimous first-teamer on the offensive line. With he and tackle Mike McGlinchey manning the left side, it should be no secret where the Irish would prefer to direct their run game.
Notre Dame senior offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey made second team honors. Both McGlinchey and Nelson will be relied upon heavily under a new offensive system and a new quarterback in Brandon Wimbush.
