This Guy Plays Notre Dame Football: #98 Andrew Trumbetti

Trumbetti, a defensive end, is another player to add to our player profile series

Andrew Trumbetti #98, a senior defensive end from Demarest, NJ, is next on the list of Notre Dame Fighting Irish players to profile. Trumbetti has flown relatively under the radar in his tenure on the Notre Dame team. He has put up some solid numbers in his three seasons, but has gone through seasons of great, defensive success as well as failure (looking at you, 2016 season). Because he stays true to his game without being in too much of the limelight, he has been part of any real non-stories when it comes to the Notre Dame defense. He could change that with a final, groundbreaking season on the defensive line.

3 Things to Know About Andrew Trumbetti

  1. He was ranked the 97th best player in the nation by ESPN when he was recruited out of high school.
  2. He has 62 total tackles and 1 interception return for a touchdown, which I will explain in a bit.
  3. He will battle with classmate Jay Hayes for that starting defensive end spot this season.

2017 Forecast

With his shown success, Trumbetti can bring a lot of energy and passion to the defensive line and overall defensive unit. It seems like his solid stats speak for themselves. If he continues that, a defense that is seeing a lot of changes this year can look to him to make sure that consistency is still active and alive on the defensive line.

Because Andrew can make these athletic plays with seeming ease and poise, he will be a great asset and leader. He can help weather the storm especially when the defense will be under a lot of scrutiny because of last season. I think he takes on the challenge well. I feel confident with him starting at defensive end and being in the mix.
