Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Andrew Hendrix married his longtime girlfriend, Kate Eckels, Sunday at The Stonelick Hills Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
Hendrix, of Blue Ash, graduated from Notre Dame in January 2014 with a bachelor of science degree. He’s pursuing a “lifelong dream of becoming a physician,” according to his bio from his time as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University.
Eckels, of Loveland, graduated from Ashland University in 2014 with a bachelor of science in business administration. She also played on the school’s volleyball team. She’s employed by Owens Corning Roofing & Asphalt, which is headquartered in Toledo.
Hendrix played for the Irish from 2011-13, mostly as the team’s No. 2 option at quarterback. He was 25-for-58 for 360 yards, throwing 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. His 111 yards on the ground against the Air Force Falcons in 2011 is the fifth best rushing performance by a Notre Dame quarterback ever.
Hendrix used his fifth year to play for the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, where he started every game under center. The Moeller High School product threw for 3,280 yards, 23 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.
Please join all of us at One Foot Down in congratulating the new Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix on their nuptials!
