As we near the end of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish player profile series, we have reached the time to look into #97 defensive tackle Micah Dew-Treadway. The 6’4 300 lb Bolingbrook, Illinois product will be looking to make his first substantial contributions on the field, as in his two years on campus so far his on field action has been - quite literally - non-existent.
3 Things About Micah Dew-Treadway
- Dew-Treadway as a recruit was labeled more often as a strong-side defensive end than defensive tackle. He was also 30-40 lbs lighter at the time, so that’s likely why.
- He majors in film, theatre, and television. Who knows, maybe we’ll see his name attached to a major Hollywood production some day.
- Kelly tabbed Micah Dew-Treadway as one of the players making strides this spring. While this is probably just coach speak, we can hope that his comments will show themselves to be true when the season gets rolling.

A look at what the coaching staff saw in Micah Dew-Treadway when he officially signed on with the class:
I, Gallagher, Dub Thee...
Micah “the Director of the Defense” Dew-Treadway. He majors in film and stuff, come on, it was too easy.
Consistently getting into the rotation would be a successful outcome for Dew-Treadway this season, although that should not necessarily be the expectation. Elijah Taylor - if he recovers well from the LisFranc fracture - seems to be firmly entrenched in front of Dew-Treadway. However the opportunities have presented themselves to the junior defensive tackle, and he has all of the innate athletic ability, size, and other natural tools to take advantage. At this point, the only thing holding him back would seem to be the mental aspect of the game.
Whether or not he begins to put all the pieces together will be evident by how much he gets on the field, if at all. With the current situation along the defensive line, let’s hope for the best with Micah Dew-Treadway’s development going into the future.
