The player profile series has come a long way since starting with #2 Dexter Williams. We are now all the way onto #82 Nic Weishar. He is a tight end entering his senior season for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He stands at 6’4 and weighs 242 lbs. Weishar is from Midlothian, Illinois where he attended Marist High School.

Nic Weishar redshirted his freshman year in 2014, only taking part on the scout team. In 2015, Weishar saw action in 12 of 13 games, including one start in the hurricane against Clemson. He finished the year with three catches for 19 yards. This past season in 2016, Weishar saw action in all 12 games, he caught three passes for 47 total yards.

Three Things To Know About Nic Weishar:

  1. He is the all time leader in receptions for Illinois high school football with 237.
  2. He is enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business, majoring in finance.
  3. With a productive year in 2017, Weishar would be in line to use his fifth year option in 2018.

2017 Season Outlook:

Nic Weishar is poised to have a big year. All reports from this past spring are that Weishar looked great. He has been waiting in the wings for an opportunity. This could be the year he breaks loose. New offensive coordinator Chip Long is known to run a two tight end set. The rotation of Durham Smythe, Alize Mack, and Nic Weishar is something that I bet Chip Long is looking forward to. Weishar will get plenty of chances this year. Look for Notre Dame to target all three of the upperclassman tight ends in 2017.
