This matchup will undoubtedly be one of the marquee matchups of this event, as the Spartans bring back a loaded cast boasted by Miles Bridges, while Notre Dame will bring back a veteran squad led by Matt Farrell and Bonzie Colson.
With the success the Notre Dame basketball program has sustained over the last few seasons it should be no surprised that Notre Dame was able to garner one of the marquee matchups.
Since joining the ACC before 2013-14 season, Notre Dame is 3-1 in this event, but only once before have they played a top team from Big Ten and that was back in 2014-15 when they played Michigan State in South Bend. The Irish came away victorious in that game, as Jerian Grant and Demetrius Jackson had career nights leading Notre Dame past Denzel Valentine and Michigan State. Notre Dame’s other two wins in the ACC/B1G Challenge came over Iowa and Illinois.
The date and time has not been set, but this matchup will most likely be one of the headliners for ESPN. Some other notable matchups include; Michigan vs. North Carolina, Duke vs. Indiana and Louisville vs. Purdue.
