Up next in the profile series for the 2017 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, is sophomore defensive end Khalid Kareem. He stands at 6’4 and weights 267 lbs. Kareem is originally from Pontiac, Michigan where he attended Harrison High School.
Khalid Kareem did not see any game action this past season in 2016. The true freshman was buried a little bit at the defensive end spot. He had upperclassmen in the likes of Isaac Rochell and Andrew Trumbetti in front of him. Kareem was a highly ranked recruit so fans should be looking forward to him breaking on the scene in 2017.
Three Things To Know About Khalid Kareem:
- He was originally committed to Alabama before flipping to Notre Dame.
- Kareem was ranked in the top 300 for all the major recruiting networks in 2016.
- He decided to early enroll in January 2016 to get a head start during spring ball.

Khalid “Redeem Team” Kareem
I for one, I have big expectation for Khalid Kareem is 2017. Now, I do not expect him to be a dominant force next year. I think 2018 or 2019 is when we see him develop into a feared pass rusher. But for next season, he will be an impact player on a defensive line unit that some say has a lack of talent. Look for Kareem to take the next step in his progression next season. If Notre Dame’s defense is at their best, Kareem will be in the rotation. Big picture, Kareem will be a fixture on the defensive line for the next three years.
