V.J. Beachem may not have heard his name called in the 2017 NBA Draft Thursday night, but his NBA journey has started anyway. According to reports, Beachem will sign a free agent contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves made perhaps the most noise on draft night, sending Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the seventh overall pick to the Bulls. In return, the T’wolves received three-time all star Jimmy Butler and the 16th overall pick, which they used to select C Justin Patton from Creighton.
With the addition of Butler, along with a core roster that includes Andrew Wiggins, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyus Jones and Ricky Rubio, the T’wolves could be very, very good next season. Coached by former Iowa State and Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, Beachem will join a team that looks primed to become a contender in the Eastern Conference.
With the talent and star power in Minnesota, it will be interesting to see if Beachem can catch on and contribute. This is is his opportunity to prove that he belongs.
