Our player profile series rolls on with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as we’ve gotten all the way up to #38 with that being Deon McIntosh. He is a sophomore running back/receiver combo. McIntosh stands at 5’10.5 and weighs in at 190 lbs. He is originally from Pompano Beach, Florida.

Last season as a true freshman, Deon McIntosh did not see any action. He spent last year redshirting and preserving a year of eligibility. Look for McIntosh to see his first game action this fall.

Three Things To Know About Deon McIntosh:

  1. He is from the same city in Florida (Pompano Beach) as NFL All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson.
  2. His brother, Kenny, is a 2019 football recruit that Notre Dame is already targeting.
  3. McIntosh plans to cross train at both running back and wide receiver. Look for him to get touches out of the backfield and also catch passes down field.

Deon “Family Man” McIntosh

(His whole family of brothers and sisters are current or future college athletes.)

2017 Outlook:

I would expect Deon McIntosh to get his feet wet this year when it comes to playing on offense. He is towards the bottom of the depth chart when it comes to running back. He is also buried at a deep position of slot receiver. McIntosh is only a sophomore so this season should set him up for a bigger role in 2018 and beyond. As for meaningful snaps in 2017, McIntosh could play a role on special teams. His speed could help the kickoff coverage and return units.
