The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just lost a recruiting battle it thought they had already won. 4 star wide receiver Braden Lenzy decommitted from the Irish and gave his verbal pledge to the Oregon Ducks.

While this move appears to be because of a distance factor, as well as the difference between the Oregon track program and the one at Notre Dame... it still was a little bit of a surprise.

Lenzy has always seemed solid in his commitment to Notre Dame. He had publicly been one of the 2018’s most vocal recruiters, and genuinely played the part of “loyal soldier” for the class. Perhaps the alarm bells should have rang louder when he attended Oregon’s spring game.

The other members of the 2018 class are quite pissed about how this all went down, and they seem like this news hit them from the blind side. Ja’Mion Franklin was particularly upset, and unleashed a few tweets- including this one:

Notre Dame is still in pretty good shape in the future at wide receiver, and even though Lenzy has elite speed, his hands have been a questionable skill.

Notre Dame has other elite options for this class at wide receiver, including Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kevin Austin.

OH BOY!
