DJ Morgan is #32 and this makes him the spotlight of our player profile series where we take a look at every player on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football roster. He is a sophomore safety who is from Norwalk, California. DJ stands at 6’2 and weighs 208 lbs.
DJ Morgan is entering the 2017 season with no playing experience. He spent the 2016 season red-shirting as a true freshman. Look for him to gain his first game action come this fall.
Three Things To Know About DJ Morgan:
- He originally committed to Arizona State before eventually changing his mind and picking the Irish.
- His commitment was even more special as he committed on the day of what would have been a fallen friend’s birthday. It was Morgan’s way of honoring him.
- Morgan is a prime candidate to play in Mike Elko’s rover position as he is a mix between safety and linebacker.

DJ “Combo Guy” Morgan
(It took me a while to think of this, trust me.)
DJ Morgan will be a contributor on special teams in 2017. He will go through the more natural progression of red-shirting, playing on special teams, and then playing meaningful defensive snaps. Unless there is an injury this year, don’t expect Morgan to get any crunch time plays on defense. He will more than likely get his first action at safety during mop up time. Going beyond 2017, DJ Morgan could look to change positions to the new rover spot. He has the body to play outside linebacker. This position fits him very well and you could see him in the 2018 rotation at rover.
