This Guy Plays Notre Dame Football: #29 Kevin Stepherson

This highly talented wide receiver is next up in our player profile series

Kevin Stepherson #29 out of Jacksonville is our next Notre Dame Fighting Irish player to profile. Kevin is a sophomore wide receiver looking to make an impact on the field in his second season. After coming off an overall solid true freshman season, Kevin is working his way through spring ball and the off season as a part of a very stacked receiving core. Look for him to make some impact, though.

3 Things to Know About Kevin Stepherson

  1. He had 5 TDs last season, keeping a steady pace throughout the year on the wide receiving core.
  2. Kevin was limited in spring ball because of a hamstring injury, but he still played a little bit in the Blue-Gold Game. Hopefully that injury doesn’t flare up as we get closer to fall practice.
  3. Recruited as a 3 Star wide receiver, Stepherson has shown his talent, but he can still learn more from this new offensive scheme and has the potential to break out, especially following in the footsteps of Equanimeous St. Brown.

Good route, good speed, great way to pull in the ball for the TD grab. Gimme some more of that this season.

2017 Forecast

Again, hopefully the hamstring injury doesn’t come back for Kevin. With the good performance he had last season, he could look to complement the already deep wide receiving core that the Fighting Irish have. Especially with how we know of St. Br, own’s ability, Stepherson could look to make a big impact to make the wide receiver position a true force.

With the new offensive scheme, Kevin could see himself being a part of many roles. He will always need to be ready for the long ball, but also how he can hopefully adapt to blocking for the run game. He also looks to be able to succeed and move if he were ever thrown a screen. Versatility would be key with Kevin Stepherson, and that might be something to look for as we go into the 2017 season.
